You guys might’ve seen my post on laser skin resurfacing a few months ago, when I was prepping my skin for the wedding (read the story here). I received the treatment again recently around my eyes using the Palomar Icon 1540 Fractional non-ablative laser, and just wanted to share the results with you guys and some of my personal tips for anyone who’s looking to try it out.
I first received the treatment on my forehead where I had started to notice a few fine lines, and while there was some redness afterwards I felt like I healed pretty quickly and loved the results. I love that this can be used as an alternative to Botox, and was so happy with the tighter, smoother appearance of my forehead in the months following my treatment. Perfect for right before my wedding!
Since I was so happy with the results the first time, I worked up the courage to go back and receive the treatment around my eyes (I’m nervous to do anything very close to the eye, but Dr. Rosenberg always makes me feel comfortable – I totally recommend him if you’re in California!). The skin around your eyes is much thinner and more delicate than on your forehead, and the treatment feels like someone snapping a rubberband on your skin repeatedly. Not unbearable, but an ice pack afterwards really helped!
It’s been about a month and I’m seeing the results Dr. Rosenberg said I would: smoother skin, which is tightened, therefore reducing the shadows and circles I have always suffered from (they get darker when i’m exhausted!). The crow’s feet lines that come up when you smile, have also reduced. Which is awesome! The laser leaves very subtle marks on your skin that aren’t noticeable with makeup, and they disappear over time. It’s important to wear a very high SPF – factor 50 ideally – on the area afterwards, even if you don’t live in a sunny climate. And to keep the area hydrated day and night with a good serum or eye cream, too.
My main takeaway? If you’re a bride who wants a more youthful look for your wedding, get this treatment at least 2 months in advance, so that your skin has time to fully heal. The results are totally worth it, and a great alternative to peels, Botox or fillers. I also highly recommend pairing these treatments with facials (though a few weeks apart) to really give your skin that perfect glow. Check out some other cool natural facial treatments I did for my wedding here. Good luck!
