Full disclosure guys, I am getting down to the wire with my wedding preparation (it’s 2 months away!), which includes tons of girly upkeep – working out, growing/coloring my hair, spray tanning, and some really interesting new facial treatments that I learned about from a genius of a man named Dr. Rosenberg, recently. While I fully support anyone who wishes to go under the knife to change their appearance (it’s a personal choice, no judging here!), I personally have been looking for more natural, less invasive ways to prevent aging and to feel refreshed before I walk down the aisle. While I have been able to ward off major wrinkles so far by taking pretty good care of my skin (see my favorite sheet mask trick here), I was excited to try a laser treatment that can rejuvenate your skin by stimulating your own natural collagen production. This results in a smooth, even and youthful appearance. (Please note that this post contains my personal experiences, and that results vary from person to person – make sure to consult Dr. Rosenberg or your professional first.)
The procedure itself is called Laser Skin Resurfacing. The technology shoots microbeams of energy into your skin, which triggers your body’s response to heal itself and create more collagen. Sounds terrifying, but it isn’t. I went to Dr. Rosenberg‘s office to receive the treatment and was a little nervous – I’d only ever had laser hair removal before, and it was a bit painful! He numbed the area on my forehead (and also gave me a silicon implant to squeeze during the treatment, yes an actual boob, which was hilarious!), and got to work with the laser. The actual treatment itself is only about 15-30 mins, so it was over before I knew it and barely hurt at all. It feels like someone pinging an elastic band on your skin. Not pleasant, but fine. He advised me to keep my forehead protected from the sun in the coming weeks, and applied tinted moisturizer to combat the redness.
He said some people have rather red skin for a few days afterwards, but I didn’t at all.
The result? About a week later, my skin feels tighter and more even in tone and texture – almost like I got a facial but times ten! This is the perfect skin treatment for busy brides-to-be looking to lose some fine lines and refresh tired skin. It can even be done during your lunchbreak and if you live in California, I can’t recommend Dr. Rosenberg more. I’ll be getting a few more treatments between now and my wedding… the countdown begins!
