Making My Dreams A Reality

Created in partnership with kikki K.

Coming from a journalism background means that I’m a real visual person- to do lists, memos, notes and planners are all things I love. I still insist on using a paper diary (a phone calendar just isn’t as fun) and I’m a real stationery fan. One thing I’ve decided to do this year was inspired by Kristina Karlsson’s book ‘Your Dream Life Starts Here’ and so I’ve started writing down my dreams on paper in order to action them. Hopefully, it’ll set me on the path to making my dreams a reality.

2019 has been a big year for us so far and 2020 promises to be even bigger; building work on a new home and some fun work projects in London are all happening already and as we move into next year, Honor turns two (gosh that’s gone quickly!) and I’ll be putting my interiors hat on and turning our new house into the dream family home. I can’t wait.

With work as busy as ever for Mackenzie and I, our little girl getting used to a new country AND a brand new interiors project to get stuck into, it would be easy for me to feel like I was taking on too much at once. This is where dream journaling has been so brilliant. I find if I write down all my plans and goals for the weeks, months and years ahead then I have a clear idea of where I’m going and it gives me a renewed sense of confidence. kikki.K stationery has everything you could want for all sorts of journaling needs and I’m like a kid in a candy shop on their website. They have planners, diaries, journals and notebooks in an array of pretty colours as well as sticky notes (I can really get through those fast), bookmarks, pens and gifts. I’m completely obsessed. It’s the kind of place where you’d go to buy one thing and end up with a basket full of goodies for you and all your stationery loving friends.

Writing down your dreams and goals doesn’t come naturally to everyone- you need to really put aside some time to do it but I’ve noticed a clearer mind and an invigorated sense of purpose quite quickly. There’s something very wintery and cosy about taking your journal (be it a dream, mindfulness, inspiration or gratitude journal) to a coffee shop and watching the world go by while you make your plans for the year ahead. Add a hot chocolate and a napping toddler you’ve got a heavenly afternoon. Shop my favourite kikki.K items below and let me know how you get on with making your dreams a reality. It’s definitely worth a try!

  • Mackenzie and I used to spend so long dilly-dallying over what to watch, it would be time for bed before we even started a movie. More than ever right now, we need escapism, and looking forward to your evening in, is part of that! Here’s what we've been watching (& eating and drinking and wearing too…) every evening on @skytv (which has Netflix & box sets on it too). 🍿🍷🍫 #ad
  • I did my hair & makeup for the duration of a Peppa Pig episode... ie. about 6 minutes!
Watch to the end to see Honor all snuggled up behind me 💕
I’ll upload the products I used to my stories later today- right now I have to go digging with a toddler on the doorstep 👷🏻‍♀️

  • Today I’m reading one of my favourite Beatrix Potter tales. Shall I keep these coming? I’m thinking of reading from one of my favourite adult novels next...
Suggestions very welcome 📚
  • #ad We must focus on finding the positives where we can at the moment and for me, part of that’s wearing bright colours around the house. Wearing colour has been proven to help lift your mood so I’m stocking up on comfy home clothes in bold colours and pretty printed wrap dresses. This sunny yellow and leopard combo is from @walmart shot a couple of weeks ago in Notting Hill. Also I have misophonia (except when it’s my daughter eating, then it doesn’t bother me at all!) so apologies if the sound on this vid makes your toes curl 😂😂🙈 🧁

An homage to leotard dancer dude (watch til the end to see the talented original! And if you know who he is please tag him, he’s my hero)
  • of what I should and shouldn’t post, are out the window. I want to make you guys smile, if I can. Winnie the Pooh (this story in particular) is Honor’s favourite - and whether you’re a kid or a grown up, everybody loves Pooh.
So I thought I’d read it out.
Should I do more? Which short stories do you love - both for children and adults? 📚

Being at home so much has got me thinking about ways in which I can be more sustainable with my fashion choices. Choosing ethical brands and renting pieces is a good way to start. In such a strange time, I’m focusing on the positives where I can. Let’s hope it won’t be long before we can all be out in the sun again ☀️
