Making My Dreams A Reality

Created in partnership with kikki K.

Coming from a journalism background means that I’m a real visual person- to do lists, memos, notes and planners are all things I love. I still insist on using a paper diary (a phone calendar just isn’t as fun) and I’m a real stationery fan. One thing I’ve decided to do this year was inspired by Kristina Karlsson’s book ‘Your Dream Life Starts Here’ and so I’ve started writing down my dreams on paper in order to action them. Hopefully, it’ll set me on the path to making my dreams a reality.

2019 has been a big year for us so far and 2020 promises to be even bigger; building work on a new home and some fun work projects in London are all happening already and as we move into next year, Honor turns two (gosh that’s gone quickly!) and I’ll be putting my interiors hat on and turning our new house into the dream family home. I can’t wait.

With work as busy as ever for Mackenzie and I, our little girl getting used to a new country AND a brand new interiors project to get stuck into, it would be easy for me to feel like I was taking on too much at once. This is where dream journaling has been so brilliant. I find if I write down all my plans and goals for the weeks, months and years ahead then I have a clear idea of where I’m going and it gives me a renewed sense of confidence. kikki.K stationery has everything you could want for all sorts of journaling needs and I’m like a kid in a candy shop on their website. They have planners, diaries, journals and notebooks in an array of pretty colours as well as sticky notes (I can really get through those fast), bookmarks, pens and gifts. I’m completely obsessed. It’s the kind of place where you’d go to buy one thing and end up with a basket full of goodies for you and all your stationery loving friends.

Writing down your dreams and goals doesn’t come naturally to everyone- you need to really put aside some time to do it but I’ve noticed a clearer mind and an invigorated sense of purpose quite quickly. There’s something very wintery and cosy about taking your journal (be it a dream, mindfulness, inspiration or gratitude journal) to a coffee shop and watching the world go by while you make your plans for the year ahead. Add a hot chocolate and a napping toddler you’ve got a heavenly afternoon. Shop my favourite kikki.K items below and let me know how you get on with making your dreams a reality. It’s definitely worth a try!

  • The most memorable, happy evening... have you seen my stories? The @ilgufo_official show was just gorgeous, I want 12 more kids now 😂 🍼
  • Time to explore Florence this morning...
  • Ciao Firenze!! Off to dinner as recommended by you guys!! Can you tell I’m excited to be here... 🇮🇹
  • *Edit / update... when I say ‘island’ I mean reclaimed table, Ie small, and moveable!
A tour of our kitchen so far, and I’m trying to convince @mackenziehunkin we have space for an island in the middle, AKA my wine-sipping station. Hubby says no. But he likes to cook, so once I’ve put Honor to bed I love coming down, propping up a stool and pouring a little glass of 🍷 to unwind. What do you think of our carpentry skills?! 😂 We’ve got space right? Vote YES below so I can convince him! 🙋🏻‍♀️👍
  • ITALIA 🇮🇹 I’m coming for you! I can’t wait to visit one of my favorite countries this week! Firenze... where should we go? Tips please ♥️ 🍝 👠
  • Happy 2nd Birthday to our darling girl 🎂
Today we skipped having a big fancy party. Instead, we did all of Honor’s favourite things... jumped in muddy puddles, fed the goats, stroked a bunny and saw a newborn sheep at the farm (his name is Jacob), slid down a steep slide, baked a chocolate cake (and ate it), opened presents, read books, rode a giant rocking horse, danced to Peppa Pig, and ate more cake with her grandparents, auntie, uncle and cousins.
After I put her to bed, we heard her singing, ‘Happy Birthday to you’, over and over on the monitor ☺️
Family is everything, and I’m so grateful for mine. 💫
  • #ad Finally had a moment to reflect and get myself ready for the new decade. So I sat down to get my goals and hopes down on paper, and mixed myself a @ketelonebotanical spritz to sip! The overarching theme: taking extra time to switch off, and enjoying the small, everyday moments more. Like saying yes to the occasional vodka cocktail (bonus points when it has no added sugar or artificial sweeteners!). What kind of #BotanicalSpritz will you be drinking to toast the new decade? #ketelbotanical #CucumberandMint
  • Found the house from The Holiday... almost! *and yes I know they built it basically out of cardboard for the movie, which made me almost 😭 when I found out. But the pub was real! ♥️👍 🍻
