Tried And Tested: The Busy Mum’s Edit

This blog post is sponsored by Walmart Baby

Being a first-time Mum can be a little overwhelming. What products do you need? Which are the safest? Where can I get them knowing they’ll be good quality? I’ve spoken about them before but this month, Walmart Baby are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Parents Choice, their exclusive baby brand. I shop there all the time so Honor and I are excited to bring you our Tried and Tested: Busy Mum’s Edit. Parents Choice focuses on premium brands selling top quality products at affordable prices so as a mum of one or a mum of five, you know you’re getting products you can trust. If it means one less thing to worry about, I’m all for it.

Colorful Diapers

We all know how restless toddlers can be and trying to get Honor to be still for two minutes for a nappy change isn’t always easy. It sounds bizarre but these colorful diapers with fun patterns (she loves the watermelons) are so much more interesting than standard ones. Hello Bello is a line of plant based baby essentials with diapers, wipes and bath products in fun colors and patterns. They’re exclusive to Walmart and are also suitable for families on budget. Winner.

Fragrance Free Baby Wipes

Hypoallergenic and pH balanced baby wipes with no added perfumes are essential for us (means I can use them too) and the great thing about Parents Choice wipes is that you can bulk buy them in boxes of up to 1200- genius. They’re extra thick, soft and made from natural ingredients. In the car glove compartment, in my bag, in the kitchen, in our suitcases…we have a pack of them everywhere.

Soft Tip Spoons

Another colorful Kitchen addition- I mentioned the other day how babies don’t always want to eat and drink the healthier things but using colored beakers and cutlery makes mealtimes so much more fun for them. Rounded, soft tip spoons are gentle on little gums and these are dishwasher and BPA free with long handles for reaching the bottom of jars!

Yogurt

One of our messiest options but Honor loves yogurt (who doesn’t) and this one is made with whole milk, fruit and vegetables. Vitamin D is good for bone development, calcium is a necessity and this yogurt is made without any hormones (shouldn’t they all be?!) As a breakfast or a quick snack, a yogurt pot is our go-to. For when we’re on the move, Honor loves the Parents Choice yogurt pouches– they keep her quiet in the car and there’s so much less mess.

Two Step Stool

I’m torn between being overly protective of Honor and wanting to let her learn new things on her own so something that helps her be independent but won’t put me on edge is our little two-step stool. Lightweight for easy transportation (we take it to Granny’s house) but still sturdy, she loves practicing the up down movement of steps. It’s quite fun to watch…if a little tiring. For the potty, for teeth brushing or for bedtime, it’s a non slip new friend that we’ve grown quite fond of!

Nursery Set

This nursery set of comforter, sheet and dust ruffle has really helped Honor feel at home whilst we’ve been renting an apartment in LA. We take the comforter on long haul flights and to hotels with us so she always has something that she recognizes. The feet fits a standard crib size mattress and the set rolls up nice and small so it takes up minimal suitcase space.

Musical Mobile

Honor loves elephants. We took her to the zoo for the first time on our wedding anniversary which was hilarious- so fun seeing her reaction when she saw animals for the first time that she knows from her favorite books. She sometimes sleeps really well (and sometimes really doesn’t) so we often use this musical elephant mobile to help her settle. Three songs (including Brahms because why not introduce them early) with a volume control, the mobile has an off switch but plays for twenty minutes when left on.

Sleep Suit

I wish they made these in adult sizes- I always get so jealous if we’re traveling and I zip Honor up in a sleep suit. Sleep blankets were recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics as an alternative to loose crib blankets and Honor loves this bee print one. It’s 100% breathable cotton so there’s no risk of overheating and it won’t irritate her skin. It’s also super cute. What’s really lovely is that every baby born at Yale New Haven Hospital goes home with one of the sleep blankets.

It’s so important that good quality baby products are affordable for all families and so I love that Walmart Baby has absolutely everything you might need for your little one, at prices that make it accessible for all parents. Shop my Busy Mum’s Edit below!
