Chilled Coffee Cocktail: Nespresso Martini

Since we moved into our new home over a year ago and finally have it just as we want, we’ve been making the most of it by hosting friends and family for dinner parties, Sundays by the pool, and even weekends visits from our UK friends. Before I became pregnant with Honor last year, I had been trying my hand at being the bartender hostess, which of course necessitated making a sophisticated drink whenever we had guests over. While I’ve been off cocktails for a while now due to my pregnancy, I’m admittedly a bit too excited to have a drink here and there again (don’t worry guys, my intake is very low and I have made sure to wait a few hours between breastfeeding! If you’re breastfeeding, always talk to your doctor first). I partnered with Nespresso and Holy Water (the bartending company who created the signature cocktails at my wedding!) to bring you guys the most unique cocktail we’ve done yet. As you guys know, I’m a huge coffee fan, with a healthy love for spirits (I am English afterall) – so this coffee-infused tequila/vodka cocktail is just up my alley. See below for the step-by-step recipe. It does take some preparation, but you’ll feel like a pro bartender by the end! Enjoy.

Chilled Nespresso Cocktail

Ingredients
2.5tbsp Patron XO cafe
1tbsp coconut oil washed vodka (add 4 tbsp of coconut oil to 16oz vodka, shake hard and rest for 24 hours)
1tbsp grass fed butter
2.5tbsp Nespresso Fortissio (about the size of an espresso!)
1.5tbsp Homemade brown sugar syrup (2 parts brown sugar, 1 part water. Bring to a boil, stir, simmer, rest)

Directions
Shake all ingredients for 8 seconds with good solid ice cubes and strain into a chilled glass (martini glasses are recommended, though I love these little gold tumblers!) Garnish with fine grated Nespresso chocolate. If you really want to go out, garnish with edible gold dust for extra glam!

If you’re having a go at making this at home, don’t forget to recycle your empty Nespresso capsules. I’m always saving mine to take back to my local Nespresso boutique for recycling when I’m stocking up. It’s easy, you can use the home collection service Nespresso offers or simply drop them off at your nearest Nespresso boutique or Café – or even at one of the 6,000 Doddle and Collect+ locations across the UK. If you’re in the UK, find out more here, or if you’re in the US click here to find out more about all the different ways to recycle your capsules locally.
