Hello NYC! I’m here working for a few days and it is hot. I’ve recently gone on a little shopping spree and have been trying out some new looks here in the city. I went for a modern 90’s vibe today – it was one of my favorite decades for film and fashion the first time round (think Sex And The City, Clueless, Melrose Place and other cult classics!) and I’m loving how the trends have been reimagined today. There’s almost a French vibe to it that I just love – particularly, polka dots and mom jeans. To me there’s no more versatile print than polka dots – they look great on everyone from grandmothers to southern belles and edgy it-girls. They look particularly chic when styled with today’s revamp of the legendary mom jean. I owned – and adored – some Levi’s 501s in the 90s, which I used to buy when I was a teenager on vacation in America. Now I can’t believe I didn’t keep them, and have to buy brand new remakes of them instead (which is no bother to be honest, more excuses to shop!). Mom jeans are here to stay guys – they’re comfy, flattering on every body type, and go with everything.
For roaming around NYC from meetings to coffee breaks, I styled this look with a classic low heel that really added a ladylike twist and was still comfy for exploring the city. NYC is so full of life and vivacity that I just want to wear chic pieces that are still comfortable and practical. What do you guys think of my look, and just for fun – what was your favorite 90’s movie or show? Tell me in the comments below!
