To me, gift wrapping is sort of like getting dressed in the morning, or even decorating for a dinner party. It says something about your style and gives you a chance to be creative! Gorgeous handmade wrapping also puts such a personal touch on giving a present to someone. This gold splatter wrapping paper is surprisingly easy, and so fun to make!
Supplies needed:
2 or 3 bottles of metallic acrylic paint (avoid matte or satin finish paint – the metallic shimmers more!)
1 or 2 brushes of different sizes
A roll of plain brown wrapping paper
You’ll want to do this outside and place the paper flat on the ground since you’ll be splattering everywhere. If you have enough room indoors to dry it, I recommend doing the entire roll of paper at one time. Otherwise, you can pre-cut the paper to the size of the presents you’ll be wrapping.
Step 1: Pour 1 bottle of the gold paint into an old tupperware or bowl and mix with a few drops of water from your brush. The consistency of the paint should be runny, but not too watery. Usually only a few drops will do. Add more paint as needed.
Step 2: Get your Jackson Pollack on and splatter away! You can use different sizes of brushes for smaller or bigger splatter marks, and you might even need to use a practice piece of paper at first to try out different techniques. Add more water for a dribble effect, or use less water and throw the paint at the paper at a higher speed for more of a “splatter” look. I must say, this was really great for getting out some aggression! Who needs a boxing class anyways?
Step 3: Once you’ve covered the paper to your liking, you’ll need to lay it flat to dry for about 4-6 hours. It’s easiest to do overnight since you want to make sure it’s completely dry before wrapping.
I finished off the look with different ribbons and embellishments. I absolutely LOVE natural fiber ribbons like rafia and cotton. I also added a touch of black with this thin black ribbon and name tag. Some greenery never hurt anyone, and eucalyptus or holly makes such a chic final touch. Your recipient will treasure the wrapping as much as the gift inside!

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
