ASK LOUISE: How To Dress For An Outdoor Party

Hello Louise! I’ve been invited to a sophisticated outdoor party this July and I don’t know what to wear! I don’t want to look too casual but I’m not sure if formal is the right look either. Please help! – Maribel

Finding the right balance of sophistication and cool summer appeal can seem tricky, but it really isn’t! Chances are you already have the perfect pieces in your wardrobe for any and every outdoor party. I recently attended a garden party and reached for my go-to summer essential – the printed maxi. Every woman should have a few summer maxi dresses or skirts in her arsenal as they can be dressed up or down with the right accessories, for every occasion. A solid bright color is always classic, but you could also look for an eye-catching print in a sexy silhouette (midi length is huge this season – wear with a heel). I love this high-low style for it’s lengthening effect on the legs, and as a platform to showcase a killer pair of strappy heels (opt for a chunky style in case of grass). Keep the jewelry delicate but stacked, the hair messy and wavy (here’s how to get the look) and you’re all set – no summer stress needed.
