January can feel like the most passive-aggressive month there is. It’s a little grey, a lot cold, the holiday season is over and spring hasn’t even thought of blooming yet. It’s easy to feel lost in a closet full of options when you feel like living in something simple, comfortable and with a warm coat on top. On days like that, think about brightening up your outer layers!
One of my favorite styling tricks (brilliant any time of year) is to pick one bright color and add splashes of it to a neutral palette. In the case of this outfit, I’m thinking pink: I’m obsessed with this fuchsia colorblock coat and art deco-inspired earrings. Fun, eye-catching additions like these can breathe new life into your favorite outfit staples. The classic button down and chinos (I got these two sizes up and belted them for a boyfriend-chino-vibe – what do you think?) are every girl’s style secret weapons, able to be worn with every type of outfit, including this twist on elegant winter classics. Take that, January.
