There are a few ways to do holiday party style. You can go the traditional route and wear festive colors, you can up the cozy factor with a chunky sweater, or you can put together a sophisticated and atypical cocktail party look. But one thing’s for sure – nobody’s got the time to spend hours getting ready (as much as I dream of lazing around in a hot bath, putting my hair in rollers and taking my time switching outfits from day to night – no wait, that’s Lady Mary’s life!). Nope, most of us end up rushing from the office straight to drinks, from running errands right into a dinner party. So, we need accessories that are versatile, eye-catching, and chic enough for a formal work setting, and a glitzy evening setting.
For this look, I was wrapping up a day of fashion meetings and heading straight to a Holiday party for a TV company. I wanted to make a statement, but also keep things tailored. I threw in a couple of interesting silhouettes with the funnel neck top and wrapover pants, and I had a great time mixing up my prints. To hold everything together in a cohesive look, I suggest choosing a color family, like the blacks and whites, and mixing patterns and accessories that agree in tone. The accessories really make an outfit pop: the panels on my bag are awesome, and I got so many compliments on these heels, I have worn them non-stop since! Top off with a great neutral coat and boom! You’re ready for a chic take on holiday style, or any fabulous party you’re off to.
