Q:”Louise, I just invested in a nice structured bag for work, but I want to be able to wear it on the weekend as well. How do I style it in a way that looks casual and fresh?”
Easy – a denim on denim outfit! Denim on denim is one of those looks that is somehow always in style, and depending on how you style it can go from day to night. Though it’s a classic look, it’s important to avoid certain styling techniques that might make it look a little dated – I would steer away from wearing a cowboy denim shirt tucked in to boyfriend jeans at the moment, but who knows, maybe that will come back around one day (though I hope not!). When figuring out how to wear denim-on-denim in 2017, don’t be afraid to layer it with complementing pieces or colors to make it feel fresh and modern, like this camel blazer. My favorite thing about this look though? The pop of printed blue with my new Brahmin handbag.
I’m currently obsessed with their new Spring line (shop my picks here), and am so excited to be part of their campaign. Because each bag is so unique and has such fun details, they’re the perfect way to top off a denim-on-denim look, which can tend to be mostly tonal without a fun accessory. It’s also the perfect structure and size to complete a tailored work look, while still going perfectly with casual denim for the weekends. To create a denim on denim outfit that is more weekend appropriate, try styling a pair of boyfriend jeans with a casual tee, a denim jacket, and a statement bag like this Brahmin piece for a little pop. Just add sneakers or sandals! What do you guys think of this look? Let me know in the comments!
