My easy winter beauty routine couldn’t be easier. One thing I love about a new year is the opportunity to overhaul certain aspects of my life. Out with the old and in with the new. I apply this to stationery, my wardrobe (of course) and also to my makeup. It’s so important to keep updating and refreshing the products that go anywhere near our faces as they don’t last as long as we think, and putting out of date makeup on can be really damaging to the skin. The same goes for all skincare, hair care, fragrance, supplements and makeup brushes, which need to be regularly washed as they’re a breeding ground for bacteria!
Here For Every Beauty is Walmart’s campaign that celebrates our own personal definition of beauty. I’ve found that the way I think about beauty has changed over the last few years and now it’s more about having a few high quality products from brands that champion natural ingredients. My 2020 is going to be all about clean beauty, organic skincare and keeping things as natural as possible. So here is my easy winter beauty routine.
Dove Care Between Washes Dry Shampoo
I use this every couple of days to give my hair a bit of volume or if I need to quickly change a look from day to night. The weightless formula (which goes on invisibly) absorbs excess oil so my hair feels refreshed without a wash- so useful for travelling, on holiday or if I’m short of time.
These have made me feel SO much better after the influx of coughs and colds that Honor, Mackenzie and I seemed to suffer through the winter. The vital proteins range is huge and so there’s something for everyone; they support hair, skin and nail health and some have collagen in which helps repair- it’s pretty magic. The added melatonin and magnesium helps with sleep too!
Earth to Skin Tea Time Anti Ageing Face Cleanser
I was told by a makeup artist years ago that we should really start using anti-ageing formulae in our thirties. This Earth to Skin is brilliant and I use it most days. You don’t need to use much of this and so it lasts for ages. White tea extract is known for its detoxifying and cleansing properties, so it tackles impurities and dehydration in one go. Glycerin helps retain moisture all day and night so you won’t get that dry, tight feeling post-cleanse and you use it straight on dry skin so the whole process takes less than five minutes.
Olay Regenerist Whip moisturiser
Once I’ve cleansed my face, I used my old favourite Olay moisturiser which has the added benefit of SPF 25. I use it all year round, it melts into the skin (none of that shiny finish) and also helps with fine lines.
I don’t wear lashes every day but when I do, Ardell’s Demi Wispies are my go-to. I like to play up the eyes in the winter and they’re great for adding a bit of drama and definition when I don’t want to wear too much makeup. These ones are really comfortable and they have that rounded shape so they don’t look false. Duo lash adhesive is the best in my opinion so I always keep a little tube of it in my makeup bag as they’re nothing more irritating than a loose eyelash!
Eye makeup essentials
There are three things I’m using every day at the moment. First, I line my eyes with a very thin flick of e.l.f liquid eyeliner in black which helps to fill any space between my natural lash line and the falsies. Then I use Laura Mercier Caviar stick in Burnished Bronze which sweeps on the eyelid so easily. My final touch is this Laura Mercier black mascara- couldn’t live without it.
Cheeks and lips
My cheeks and lips I always do after my eyes to let any lash glue or liquid eyeliner dry properly before I leave the house. With blusher, I always go for pinky tones in the winter (and back to golden bronzers in the summer) as I always think it looks more natural so a little dusting of bareMinerals powder blush in On The Mauve on my cheekbones is all I really do. Seeing as my eyes are made up, I also tend to go for a nude lip and use Laura Mercier long wear lip liner in shade Rosewood. It’s a liner but I use it on the inside as well so no need for a lipstick.
And there it is- my easy winter beauty routine, simple but still glam.
xx,
Thank you for sharing your beauty routine, I found it really helpful! I also need to refresh my beauty case with new products and eliminating the old ones, so this post gave me the right inspiration to do it 🙂
Hi Chelsea,
Thanks for sharing these useful beauty routines. I usually use the Dove hair care Shampoo & it works well on my dry hair. I agree with your point that Olay moisturizer easily melts into the skin & also helps with fine lines.
