NYFW is always an amazing time to be in NYC, but this year things have been even more exciting than usual… It’s been a very busy time for us, and now you finally know why (if you missed our pregnancy announcement, catch up here). I’m super excited to be back in one of my favorite cities for one of my favorite weeks – New York Fashion Week. It’s been a blast so far and I’m just trying to soak it all up as it happens so fast!
Today I’m challenging the classic ‘florals for spring’ stereotype by proving that florals can be great at any time of year, including Fall. If you’re strategic about the colors and shades you choose for your floral pieces, they can be more than appropriate beyond Summer. The darker florals and the rust color of this dress give you those late-Summer deserty vibes. Believe it or not LA is hottest at the beginning of Fall, and this color scheme definitely reminds me of that. While you could definitely wear this dress in the summer, the warmer and darker tones are perfect for transitioning between seasons. I also love that it’s not constricting on my newly showing bump!
I’ve styled this look with minimal and neutral accessories (except for these super cute pink sunglasses!) including my current obsession: woven straw bags. I’m determined not to let this Summer trend die out by Fall. They give you such an out-of-office feeling, like you should be taking a picnic on a beach rather than shlepping to and from work. To keep the look laid-back I’ll be throwing my trusty denim jacket over my shoulders this evening – unlike LA, the weather in New York is already starting to turn a bit on the crisper side. This makes the look perfect for the city.
