Nothing makes me happier than a decorative tabletop and the spring ones are amongst the prettiest, and the most fun to create. This year it’s doubly exciting because I’m also making my spring table into an Easter brunch and a mini baby shower. It’ll be Mackenzie, Honor, the bump and I but hopefully the sun will stay around and we’re going to enjoy brunch this weekend. It’ll be colourful and bright with bunches of flowers from the garden in amongst all our favourite breakfast things.
If I’ve got flowers on the table or I’m going for a more relaxed feel then I like my tableware to be a bit mixed. Rather than having everything in one style, I love a range of handmade and high street with different sizes and colours so that my spring table always looks different. Lots of my favourite plates are hand-painted or made by small or independent businesses so there isn’t a huge number of anything and you feel like you’re getting something really special. I love these plates by Vaisselle. It’s hand made and hand painted and so pretty; they’ve got really cute teacups and saucers too.
A lot of and crockery that I’ve collected is spatter painted. These pieces are often made to order so there’s a wonderful uniqueness and personal touch to them, knowing they’ve been created especially for you. I love terracotta spatter painted plates and bowls on my spring table, like this one by Lusophile who also makes this gorge jug. Terracotta always makes me feel summery- I’m also obsessed with them for planting which you’ll see if you’ve followed my home renovation!
Tablecloths and napkins for this time of year has got to be linen. I find it so hard to choose when it comes to linen so I end up getting all sorts of pale or pastel colours and making them work together. These plaster pink napkins are beautiful and very summery. They come in a few colours, all of which would be so easy to style with other tableware or with a linen tablecloth. While I was finding things to style my spring table with, I came across these linen pockets for cutlery…genius.
The finishing touches to any tabletop are the flowers and the candles. I often use jam jars as vases but if I want my posies a bit more structured then a vase like this one with patterned brass lids. I got these flowers from By Matilda who also made the INCREDIBLE cake. For candles I’m colour obsessed. You can find handmade candles in every colour imaginable. I love these pink beeswax ones or get a mix of tapered ones. One of my most recent finds when looking for things to dress up my spring table was these candles and candlesticks in one- how cool! Hand-poured and scented with lavender and vanilla, they have three gorgeous colours and you can see them on my table in the pictures. If you do need candlesticks then classic wood is always pretty or I found candle holder dishes with the spatter painted finish!
With my spring table decorated for the Easter brunch/baby shower extravaganza we’ve got orange juice in tumblers, eggs in cups and we’re ready to eat.
