The One Material You Need In Your Accessories Collection

Raffia accessories never fail to make an appearance during the Summer; the classic trend just never seems to date- once you buy a couple of pieces, you can bring them out every year…and I do. I love the cool and breezy holiday vibe that natural materials like raffia, jute and bamboo give off, which is perfect for exploring abroad and home relaxing alike. The woven material can be worked into outfits in hundreds of ways- as an elegant sunhat on the beach or as a clutch to brunch in the city; as hairbands, earrings, belts and baskets. Every year, designers and high street stores reinvent the textured style, fusing a go-to material with modern designs to create some of the season’s hottest accessories.

If you’re looking for a statement accessory- this is where to look. Raffia packs a real punch so don’t over do it. Less is definitely more so just choose one or two pieces to complement a simple outfit like a colorful jumpsuit (see my current fave jumpsuit here) or a white linen dress. Avoid overly patterned or embellished clothing and let these accessories do the talking. They’re also a great way to jazz up a jeans and tee kind of day. Sometimes you want to be comfortable but with a fashionable edge, a statement piece ties even the simplest outfit together and will be sure to give you that extra spring in your step.

I’ve rounded up my favorites of this season’s raffia accessories that will keep you looking effortlessly chic and stylish this summer. Shop my picks below!

  • #ad We must focus on finding the positives where we can at the moment and for me, part of that’s wearing bright colours around the house. Wearing colour has been proven to help lift your mood so I’m stocking up on comfy home clothes in bold colours and pretty printed wrap dresses. This sunny yellow and leopard combo is from @walmart shot a couple of weeks ago in Notting Hill. How are you staying positive this week? #WalmartFashion http://liketk.it/2MdDt @liketoknow.it #liketkit

So I thought I’d read it out.
Should I do more? Which short stories do you love - both for children and adults? 📚

Being at home so much has got me thinking about ways in which I can be more sustainable with my fashion choices. Choosing ethical brands and renting pieces is a good way to start. In such a strange time, I’m focusing on the positives where I can. Let’s hope it won’t be long before we can all be out in the sun again ☀️

  • Our street created a text group, and reached out to all our elderly neighbours with a note offering to help. Some of them we knew, some we didn’t. Some of them are now needing groceries, dog walking, and it got me thinking about how to make them less lonely, should they be feeling that way too. Here’s the care package we’re making... just in case you want to do something similar. We’ve got to take care of the Grannies & Grandpas, the way they once took care of us.
