Hello Holidays! Chic & Sparking Fairy Light Lanterns

Now that Fall is here, the nights are drawing in and it’s getting darker a lot earlier. While I love Autumn and cooler weather, I always hate the transition from longer to shorter days. It takes some getting used to when you feel like you’ve been inside working all day and it’s dark by 5pm. I wanted something to lighten up the porch and the outside seating area in the evenings, especially as we will have lots of guests over for the holidays over the next few weeks. I did this simple DIY right before a dinner party, to welcome our guests on their way up to our house. The best part? As far as DIYs go, it’s completely mess free and takes less than 5 minutes! All you need are some lanterns and fairy lights.

I took these gold lanterns which we have outside in the garden, and which usually contain candles, and decided to try something new with them. I bought some battery-operated fairy lights with copper and silver strings and simply put them inside the lanterns, hiding the battery operated switches underneath. They look so glowy and ethereal – I think this would even work with smaller objects, like mason jars or even wine bottles (though I don’t have as many laying around the house these days!).

If you guys try this at home, tag me on Instagram so that I can see how they look – I’ll be putting my favorites on my Instagram stories!
