Halloween DIY: Pregnant Avocado Costume

This Halloween will be unlike any other for me – I’m now in the third trimester of my pregnancy, and there’s no getting around this bump! So, I decided to make a hilarious pregnant avocado costume that incorporated my belly as part of the look. I saw this avocado costume on Pinterest, and being that avocado is one of my favorite things ever, I couldn’t pass it up. This DIY is fun, easy and definitely one of the sillier costumes I’ve ever done. Read below for the simple instructions!

Supplies:
Foam presentation board
Dark green paint
Light green paint
Yellow paint
Assorted brushes (we used foam and it was great)
Xacto knife or box cutter
Pencil/pen

Instructions:
1. Hold the foam board up to your body, and decide where you want the top/bottom of your avocado to hit. Sketch the shape of an avocado first with a pencil, placing a circle in the center where your bump will be. Once it’s the size and shape that you want, trace it with a sharpie to create the final outline.
2. Using a sharp boxcutter or Xacto knife (be careful!), cut along the lines that you’ve just drawn. When you cut out the middle of the avocado, you can use this as a makeshift palette for blending your paints!
3. First paint the outer line of your avocado, using the dark green color paint. This will create the shell. Paint it just 2 or so inches thick, and allow it to dry for a few minutes. Then, fill in the rest of the avocado with a lighter green paint – I even mixed yellow paint into mine, to make it have more of that ripe avocado yellow/green shade.
4. Allow to dry completely (we used acrylic paints, so it dried within 30 minutes). Optional to hot glue gun a neck tie to the back, so that it can hang off of you and allow your hands to be free.

What do you guys think? Would you wear this to Halloween? Tell me below!
