How To Create A Whole New Wardrobe Out Of Old Clothes

My pregnancy has been an adventure so far, especially when it comes to my wardrobe now that I’ve started to “pop” over the last few weeks. Not even 3 weeks ago I could get away with not looking pregnant from certain angles or in certain clothes, but Baby Hunkin is growing full force now, so my style is adapting too. I’m not crazy about the idea of buying lots of maternity clothes, especially when I’ll probably only wear them for a couple months. While I’m sure I’ll need to buy maternity items towards the end of my pregnancy, for now I’m having fun reinventing old pieces in my wardrobe to suit my changing body.

I’ve spent some time lately going through my wardrobe and reimagining how I can wear old pieces in a new way. For instance, this blue pantsuit has been at the back of my closet for a while but is just perfect for me now – the pants are flowy, and they even have a drawstring waist! Double win. There’s also something so chic about wearing a suit in a bold color like royal blue (remember when I wore this red power suit?). Point is, I would’ve never thought of this as a maternity outfit unless I used my imagination. It’s possible to style completely new looks out of clothes that you haven’t worn in ages – whether you’re pregnant or not. If there’s a piece in your closet you haven’t worn in a while, think about how you can style it with different accessories or color combinations than you’ve worn previously. If you’ve worn it casually in the past, try dressing it up with heels and a leather jacket! If you’ve worn it on a night out, try it with sneakers or flats for a more casual feel. Take a Sunday to go through your closet, look at everything with fresh eyes, and lay out different looks. You’d be surprised how many different looks you can create with the same pieces.

To make this look feel brand new, I went for bold accents to spice it up. I’m loving rich, quirky accessories at the moment – like this embellished clutch and cherry embroidered shoes. These cool earrings gave my outfit a fun pop as well, and each accessory made the outfit just a bit more chic and unexpected. Plus, you guys know how I feel about camel coats. In my eyes, they can do no wrong when it comes to Fall outfits. And I just couldn’t get enough of this gorgeous blue & camel combination.
