This Easy Messy Half-Knot Takes 10 Mins!

Those who know me know that I’m not the greatest at doing my own hair. I can do my makeup well, but I sometimes struggle to get that perfect everyday curl look, or to do certain up-do’s. Thankfully, I work with so many talented hair and makeup artists that over the years, I’ve picked up a few things here and there that can save me in a pinch. While it might not be picture perfect all the time, I’ve mastered how to do a quick wavy style to revive my hair in the mornings, a killer side braid, and even this cool messy half-knot bun style that the lovely ladies over at Priv taught me recently.

This hairstyle is perfect for bad/dirty hair days, or even if you just want to switch up your usual bun style for something equally as easy and cute. And it takes less than 10 minutes! You’ll just need a curling iron or wand, hair ties, bobby pins and hairspray.

First, give yourself a part (I think in the middle works best for this style, but wherever you prefer). Next, section off the top half of your hair. I like to take my two index fingers and start just above my ear, and bring them together to meet in the back. Clip up this piece of hair to get it out of the way. Next, take your curling wand and curl the bottom section. You want this to have an easy, undone look, so don’t worry about being perfect. Take larger, horizontal sections, and just give them a quick few seconds of heat. Once you finish that, unclip the top section of your hair, and twirl it behind your head in a loose bun. Secure it with a hairtie, and pin down any loose strands. Finally, yank out some strands around your face, give those a quick curl, and give everything a light spritz of hairspray. And voilá! What do you guys think?
