There are a few wardrobe staples that I believe every woman simply cannot live without. If you create a capsule wardrobe out of classics, you’ll never run out of something to wear. It’s all about investing in must-have pieces: the perfect skinny jeans (in blue, black and white), a classic leather jacket, block heel mules, a fringe crossbody bag, a little black dress… and of course, the crisp white shirt.
Having just gone to New York Fashion Week, I noticed a trend going up and down the catwalks that I’m obsessed with: shirting, in all variations, silhouettes and cuts. You might’ve seen this post from a while back (I practically live in this off-shoulder poplin shirt in menswear blue), and these types of crisp shirting styles that were already very popular this year are still going to be huge going into next. Whether it’s a cool asymmetrical or off-shoulder style, or even just a classic silhouette, don’t hesitate to invest in this particular staple piece this season.
There is (almost) no wrong way to wear a classic shirt. I love them because they’re work appropriate tucked into a pencil skirt and paired with killer pumps, or even styled super casually with denim shorts for summer (with the sleeves rolled up!). I went for a formal-meets-casual look here, styling a dressy white shirt and evening earrings with patchwork denim (one of my favorite trends this fall) and comfy flats. See what I mean about creating a closet full of staples? If you have classic jeans, tops and shoes to choose from, you can whip up a cool outfit in less than 5 mins.

So true. A white shirt is a must have. It can be styled in so many different ways.
