Bridal 101: My Wedding Makeup Trial!

As you guys might already know, I’m getting married in just a couple of weeks! Everything is finally settling into place, I even had my wedding makeup trial with my babe Rachel Toledo and PRIV, this week in New York while I was here for Fashion Week, in between shows (talk about busy brides having to multi-task when planning their big day). I tried out some Mary Kay products for my bridal beauty look, and I couldn’t be more excited. For my wedding day, I want to feel ultra-feminine, timeless and confident as I walk down the aisle. I usually go for a pretty classic look with a cat-eye, and for my big day I’m doing the same, and just taking it up a few notches. I have always thought it’s important brides still look like themselves on their big day. Not going overboard with new trends or products, and trying them all out beforehand, is crucial.

I wanted super smooth skin with just a touch of peachy color on the cheeks, and a shimmery cheekbone to catch the light as I walk down the aisle. Then, I asked for a thick black liner with a flick, worn with big, voluminous lashes. My absolute favorite are the Demi Wispies by Ardell, plus individual lashes added to the outside corner for extra vavavoom. Lastly, a pretty nude lip with liner just nudging the outside edges of my lips to pump them up a bit – classic with just a touch of retro vibes. Without telling too much, my dress is very timeless (and a little dramatic!), so I wanted a really fresh, simple look to keep it young.

To prime my skin for the makeup, I started by applying Mary Kay’s Intense Moisturizing Cream for dry skin, after cleansing. Makeup always sits better on a properly moisturized face. My makeup artist Rachel (who fans of Plain Jane will recognize!), then spread on the Time-Wise Luminous Wear Liquid Foundation – which I love because it’s light and can go on in layers, creating a natural look. She followed with the Perfecting Concealer, Mineral Cheek Color, and set everything with the Makeup Finishing Spray. The primer and setting spray keep everything in place for a long day, which is so crucial if you don’t have time for touch ups. Another wedding makeup tip? Make sure to use waterproof mascara on your lower lashes (and if you’re a real cryer, put it on the top lashes too!) I love this Lash Love Waterproof Mascara – it withstands all wedding sniffles!
