I had the opportunity recently to tour this gorgeous estate called Robinson Gardens, located right in the middle of Beverly Hills. It was built in the early 1900s and sprawls over about 5 acres, which is a huge amount of land in LA, where most things are crowded and built on top of each other! I loved learning about the history of the estate. It was given to a young woman by her father as a wedding present, and has the most delightful art-deco pool house you’ve ever seen…imagine those Great Gatsby-style parties. Because of the drought, the gardener created a meadow full of wild flowers (which need way less water) and I just had to take some pics there. Strolling through the gorgeous property felt like something out of a movie. This romantic frilly dress by Self Portrait was just perfect for the setting of this day – I felt like I was on vacation in the south of France! It got me thinking about how to wear white in a fresh, modern way this spring.
Spring is the perfect time to wear white, and there are so many ways to style this clean, chic color. I styled my look with a wide brim straw hat and went for my favorite new lace up sandals by Aquazzura, creating a look that would be perfect for a glam picnic.
Wearing white can also be perfect for work – try styling a slouchy white boyfriend tee with a tailored white blazer and trousers for a more sleek and sophisticated look. White usually looks best with neutral colored shoes (I love pairing it with camel), but for a night out will look great paired with black as well. I also don’t subscribe to the idea that you can’t wear white after labor day – I wear it as long as the weather is still gorgeous out, even in winter! It’s the perfect canvas for a polished look. PS, if you live in LA, join me at an event at Robinson Gardens – click here for more info!
