Now that the weather is warming up, so is my makeup! One of the perks of living in LA is that there are so many gorgeous places to spend time outdoors, which helps you get that beautiful sun-kissed bronzey skin that I just love (and guys – always, always put your SPF on first, even in your lip balm!). If you live somewhere that spring hasn’t quite hit yet, don’t worry. There are ways to achieve this fresh, glowy, youthful look with makeup.
As I’m sure you’ve seen all over Instagram and YouTube, contouring has been an extremely popular beauty trend across the industry in the last few years. But in real life – as opposed to using professional lights and cameras – it can look a little streaky and unnatural. However, there’s a new trend that is way easier to create, called strobing. Strobing is a new highlighting technique that is similar to contouring in that it gives you gorgeous definition, but it’s much easier and more forgiving – perfect for on the go 5 minute morning makeup. Strobing is much more about glow and shimmer, than the super matte look of contouring. Read below for a few tips on how to strobe, and click to shop the products I use to achieve it!
Tips:
1) Prep your skin with a hydrating moisturizer or primer. This look is all about dewyness, so dry, dull skin just won’t do.
2) Use a foundation that has some glow to it (not matte), like this Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.
3) Use a bronzer where you would normally contour, in the darker spots on your face (the hollows of your cheeks, sides of your nose and forehead).
4) Use highlighter (my favorite is Mac Strobe Cream) on the spots of your face that catch light, like your cheeks, brow bones, nose and chin.
xx,
Thanks. Could you do a video showing how to do strobing? Love your site.
You are so beautiful! Yes, I would also love if you did a video of the strobing technique! Cheers to spring!
