Awards season continues! I’ve partnered with European Wax Center to start my beauty pampering process to get red carpet ready for the biggest night in film. This Sunday I’ll be discussing my fashion favorites from the red carpet once again, and I’m so excited. As you guys know, I’m obsessed with eyebrows. When shaped correctly they frame your face just perfectly and really open up your eyes. I’m so protective of my brows, and haven’t let anyone touch them in years. Even on photoshoots with hair and makeup artists available, I always insist on doing my own brows.
Even though I’m hugely particular of my brows, I decided it was time to let go of the reigns a bit and let a professional do some sculpting. Once you get the shape just right, it’s so easy to maintain on your own. This week I paid a visit to EWC, as their technicians and style of wax are known to be some of the best in the business. I like to keep my brows rather thick, with some of the hairs brushed up and left untrimmed – these hairs are called “sprouts”, and to me give you a total “model off duty” type of look.
I was so nervous for my reservation – like I said, my brows are my babies! Thankfully my lovely technician spent a good deal of time discussing with me the exact shape I wanted, so I felt like I was in good hands. EWC uses a proprietary type of wax that is made in Europe which they call Comfort Wax®. It’s a type of hard wax that when applied as part of their 4 step process, 4 Steps to Gorgeous®, creates a virtually painless experience. What’s really cool about this process is that it can pick up hairs in any direction, with and against the grain. If any of you ladies are familiar with the typical soft wax, you know how painful it can be to go over the same spot more than once, and how frustrating it is when it doesn’t pick up all the hair! Nothing worse than leaving the salon with raw, painful skin for days.
I learned that there are a few key steps in brow grooming: trim, wax, tweeze, and define. She started by trimming them up a bit, but I asked to keep some of the “sprouts” I mentioned – I just love that look. Next, she shaped my brows using the wax, cleaned them up a bit with tweezing, and finally filled them in with their very own brow powder to complete the look. As you can see below my skin was slightly red following my treatment, so she used their Calming Cream on the area which was very soothing. They have a whole line of products to suit your grooming needs, from brow brushes to serums and shaping tools.
Step one in my red-carpet grooming: complete! Having perfectly shaped brows really gives me an extra confidence boost – now off to gown fittings!
