It’s been an absolute whirlwind over the last few weeks – traveling to England for Christmas, New York for a wedding, preparing for the Golden Globes, and getting engaged myself! With all the craziness going on around me, I’ve decided that it’s time to start simplifying my wardrobe. That’s not to say I won’t still try fun trends and experiment with new shapes and prints, but right now – it’s all about quality over quantity. So, I’m refining down to staples that work together in lots of different combinations. Sometimes when life gets hectic you need a fashion formula that just works, to save yourself some time getting ready in the morning.
One of my favorite trends going around right now can also be one of the hardest to wear: culottes. When styled correctly they can be so chic, but the wrong length or color can be unflattering. This leather pair are an absolute classic piece, perfect for wearing from business meetings to drinks (just like I did last week!). They go with this sweater and blazer combo for a more professional vibe, or even with a cute cami top and bold red lip for happy hour. When wearing culottes it’s important to find ones that fall around mid-calf length (most online sites will list an inseam length, so get out that measuring tape!), and they always look more flattering with high heels (I nabbed these sexy Loubs on sale when I was visiting Berlin, one of my best shopping scores yet). It’s also best to avoid very long proportions on top, as it can make you look wider and shorter than you are. Go for a top that’s more hip length or even a bit cropped. Say goodbye to boyfriend jeans and give culottes a try this season!
What I’m Wearing:
