“How can I wear some timeless Fall pieces this season, but with a twist?” — @LaurenShergs
Hi Lauren,
That’s a great question, because when the weather turns chilly, I always feel like dressing a little more elegantly, with tailored classics that feel chic and timeless. But it’s important to add your own spin onto those looks. One of my must-have pieces for Fall is a suedette skinny pant. I’m wearing a pair in charcoal, and then in beige, in this shoot. They’re stretchy and super comfortable, but the faux-suede panels give a new texture to the look. The key is picking one statement item for your look, that is also versatile: these pants, for example, are casual enough to wear out shopping with tennis shoes and a simple cream sweater, but glamorous enough to dress up with fab heels and a lower-cut top.

Tonal layering is another huge tip for Fall. And by that I mean, wearing similar shades over each other – whether that’s mixing taupe, cream and camel (like I did in the chunky-knit sweater below), or charcoal, black and olive green (like I did in the cardigan). When you mix and match colors from the same family, but in different textures, the result can be really chic.

Last but not least, think outside the box when it comes to your knits. Fall is that beautiful time of year when the weather is crisp, but not freezing: cue a cute look that doesn’t require pantyhose! I paired this cream sweater dress with sneakers, to give it a modern, youthful vibe. I like my sweater dresses on the looser side, and once the weather cools, I’d wear it with thigh-high boots, tights and a dark jacket.

It’s always important, when you try out a new look, to imagine how you’d wear it in a couple of other ways too. That’s the fun of styling!
