Ask Louise: How to get Dressed Fast for Work (No Jeans Allowed!) and Still Look Polished

“What can I wear to work in the winter that looks polished and doesn’t involve jeans?” — Liz

When the weather drops, I know firsthand how easy it is to gravitate towards the jeans and leggings in your closet. But, I’m a big believer that a beautiful, tailored skirt is the key to breathing new life into any wardrobe (and in any weather). I was recently in Berlin for Fashion Week, and, inspired by the beautiful old architecture surrounding me, opted for a look made up of warm maroon and brown tones. The light layers were perfect for the overcast winter chill, and the darker shades made the skirt totally cold weather appropriate.
