During this time of year in LA, it’s hard to know exactly what to wear. Any given day can start out on the chilly side, then rapidly transition into a wave of heat. That’s where the term trans-seasonal layering comes in. Once you’ve got your layering game down, it’s easy to put together stylish, practical outfits with little-to-no effort. LA style tends to consist of mostly casual, with a sprinkle of dressed up. Baggy jeans but a chic tailored blazer, for example. Loose layers with killer heels. A long tee but worn with a sharp biker jacket. There’s always at least one dressy piece pulling everything together. Sort of like 10% of your outfit has a polished vibe.
When I feel like dressing this way (and trust me, it’s so comfy you’ll want to stick to it!), it’s all about pulling together a few key basics and mixing them with pieces that are a little more stand-out. Here, I started with a lightweight cotton tee, swapped out my winter boots for a cutout heel, and finished with a sleek leather jacket and faux leather jogging pant for good measure. To top it off, I opted for a chic printed scarf, textured clutch, and classic pair of earrings. The result? An urban layered combo that not only looks good now, but will carry me through spring as well.
