What I enjoy most about this time of year is the opportunity to reflect on the year behind me, and determine how I want to live the year ahead being the happiest, most confident version of myself. And when I say that, I mean making little shifts in my thoughts and actions that are easy to work into my lifestyle. It doesn’t have to be seismic shifts or unrealistic goals. Sometimes the smallest changes are the most effective – and you can apply to that to everything from lifestyle and confidence, to fashion.
Let me know what you think of my tips below, and send me your tips too!
Live Colorfully: Color adds so much energy, both to outfits and to everyday life. My Mum always says, when you’re walking down the street, look up. Notice things. Make an effort to look around and appreciate the vibrance around you, whether it’s a gorgeous pink wall on the street you drive on everyday or a bright sweater that livens up your winter wardrobe. So get playful in 2015! Paint that accent wall in your bedroom, or pick up that colorblocked dress you love. Did I mention bright colors are instant mood-brightener?
Hold Your Girlfriends Close: Surround yourself with friends that you love and admire. Whether you’re sharing life advice or style tips, your group of girlfriends will see you through thick and thin. And? Having a bestie means access to two closets.
Mix It Up: Want to be a more fearless version of yourself? Start with your style. Take risks with mixing patterns, wearing new textures and giving fresh trends a chance. You’ll impress yourself with what you’re able to pull off, and that confidence will trickle into the rest of your day. Which leads me to my next point…
Take Risks: Fortune, and fashion, favor the bold. This year, give yourself the chance to try that thing that excites and scares you. Go after the dream job, talk to the boy, book the sky dive, put on that fab red lipstick you’ve been meaning to try. Sky’s the limit!
Confidence is Key: Part of why I love fashion so much is the power that it has to give women a boost of confidence. We often don’t give ourselves enough credit, and a great dress or a new jacket really can have the power to make us stop and appreciate ourselves for a minute. Remember you deserve to feel fabulous all the time. Take a moment to appreciate the boost of confidence that comes from looking and feeling good, and then let that feeling carry you through your day.
