Christmas is upon us, which means that as excited as I am about time with family, mulled wine and unwrapping presents, I’m equally excited about the next holiday coming up– New Year’s Eve. I’ve certainly gone the LBD and sparkly heels route for New Years celebrations past, but I don’t believe in getting stuck in a style rut: sometimes it’s fun to play around with other alternatives. After all, my favorite rule in fashion is that there are no rules!
I put together a few outfits to help inspire your own out-of-the-box NYE look; one daytime casual, one more glam, and one take on the classic night out look. Have a look and let me know which one you guys going to wear to ring in 2015. Leave me a comment below and let me know!
Look 1: Playing Dress Up. One of the easiest party dressing formulas? Wearing black head-to-toe and then spicing things up with bright accessories and layers. This cardigan is not only cozy, it’s also quite chic. It’s warm enough to wear as a jacket, but has flecks of gold in the fabric that make it jazzy enough for a party – I love it! Paired with some layered bold jewelry, this outfit has a really rich, luxurious feel to it.
Look 2: Casual Chic. I love the laid-back vibe of daytime outfits, and this simple yet polished look is the perfect example of casual comfort and elevated basics. This is my go-to look for a New Year’s day event, where I’d pair it with a gold clutch and camel overcoat for a little pop. (Bonus: so much more comfortable than an evening gown!)
Look 3: Retro Glam. This simple cream blazer is a standout piece: I love the detail on the perforated faux-leather sleeves! It’s so fun paired with a pair of flares, which are back in a big way this season and look fab with simple gold flats — a nod to the festive season without going gold head-to-toe. I’d wear this look to a New Year’s dinner with friends.
