I love Halloween, and I love carving a pumpkin, but this season I’m decorating my house with something a little different (and way less messy!). This idea for a patterned, spray-painted pumpkin in Martha Stewart Living magazine caught my eye: it’s just as festive and super quick to create, so I decided to give it a go instead! To make your own, you don’t need much, just a pair of patterned tights, a hairband, scissors, a white pumpkin, newspaper, and orange spray paint.
Step 1: Cover a surface in newspaper to protect it.
Step 2: Put the pumpkin in one leg of the tights, tie a knot underneath it and pull it tight. Tie the top with a hairband and snip off the excess fabric.
Step 3: Spray the whole pumpkin, lightly, from 1 foot away. Now leave the pumpkin to dry for 10 minutes.
Step 4: Carefully cut and peel back the tights.
