Guest Bedroom Reveal

Guest bedrooms are amongst the rooms that need the most attention to detail; I always wanted this house to be somewhere we could have lots of friends to stay and we were lucky that we could create some really lovely spaces. So here is the guest bedroom reveal!

This room is the biggest guest room and has an en-suite. Whilst the eaves bedroom is cosy and snug, the guest bedroom has lots of natural light. Wooden floorboards, an original marble fireplace and even remnants of a servants bell meant that the style needed to be more traditional. We painted the walls is Cuisse de Nymphe Emue by Edward Bulmer which is a beautiful dusty pink. For the bed, I knew what shape I wanted so clearly that I drew the scallop shape of the headboard on the wall and my vision was created by the wonderful Tor at Wescot House. The fabric is Osmunda Frond Ivy on Stone by Soane and we also used it for the curtains. Our bedding is the same as we had in our bedroom in LA and it’s from The White Company– I love the Toulon collection.

The wall sconces are the Chukka in the antiqued brass finish from Pooky. I found the wicker shades on eBay and they just happened to fit! What a stroke of luck.  The lamps by the bed are from The Edition 94 with raffia scalloped lampshades by Matilda Goad. The dressing table is from Habitat which I love as it goes perfectly with the wicker lampshades and doesn’t dominate the space. I put an antique rose patterned pitcher on top which gives it a real traditional English country house feel. The chest of drawers is also antique; I didn’t buy it initially but I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I got home and so nipped straight back to buy it. If you can’t stop thinking about something you didn’t buy then it’s a sign that you should…at least, that was my thinking!

Above the fireplace is an oil painting that I found on eBay. I took the frame off but I love it not hanging and just leaning against the wall. The blue pottery is Willow Crossley for Burleigh and the other vases are all from our house in LA.

The en-suite bathroom is cosier by comparison. The walls are Lichen No.19 by Farrow & Ball which we used in our bedroom with shell wall sconces by Jim Lawrence which I couldn’t love more. The bathtub tray is Jenni Kayne and I added some dried hydrangeas as well as the all-important Diptyque candle. The paintings I found on a stroll by the river in Paris and the bamboo mirror is from Etsy- you don’t need to spend a fortune on accessories to create the look you want.
