Autumn is here! I’m so excited- as much as I love summer there’s nothing like getting into cosy jumpers, digging out those leather pieces and swapping sandals for boots. We’ve enjoyed a bit of a slow transition between seasons (I’m not complaining!) so I’ve rediscovered the joys of an old faithful friend and decided it’s the one thing you need for autumn…a cape!
Probably the hardest working thing I’ve ever owned, capes are timeless, effortlessly chic and just as good over jeans as they are over dresses…I do love something versatile. It feels too early to start donning padded jackets, fur hoods or scarves so a cape is the ideal choice for those sunny but chilly days that make up most of September and October. Keep your cape neutral in colour; camel is the winner for me as it goes with everything in my wardrobe but I also love grey, especially with faded denim. Go for thigh length and you’ll be amazed and what your cape will work with. I love co-ordinating this one with my trusty boots (I wear these Neil Rodgers ones every year) and adding some colour with a jewel coloured poplin dress- this green one is by Luisa Cerano keeps me from looking too one colour. Keep your accessories simple and your handbag small and you’re sorted for a September stroll, meeting, lunch…it really is the one thing you need for autumn.
What I’m Wearing: Dress by Luisa Cerano (similar here and here), Cape by Zara (similar here), Bag by Loewe, Boots by Neil Rodgers, Sunglasses by Taylor Morris, Hair scrunchie by Hermes (available at Cutter Brooks and similar here)
