The last few weeks have been quite the adventure with our new little lady at home. Mackenzie and I finally feel like we’re getting the hang of things as new parents, though we know we still have a ways to go before we can call ourselves pros (but does anyone actually get to a point where they feel like they 100% know what they’re doing??). We’ve been much more active lately and taking Honor on more outings, and one of our favorite ways to bring her with us has been with our Newbie Love wrap.
When we’re going for a quick outing like a coffee down the road, we’ll leave her stroller at home and wrap her up nice and snug when we get her out of the car. As you guys know I did tons of research before giving birth to her, and I had read about the need for newborn babies to be physically close to their parents as much as possible. Research shows that babies’ brains develop the best when stimulated by our voice, smell, movement, and skin-to-skin contact. Carrying your baby on your body so closely gives them all of that at stimulation once, making them feel safe and secure as you step out into the world together. This wrap also has a padded neck support, which supports baby’s head as their neck muscles continue to develop. Most babies can’t support their own head until around 4 weeks old, and can’t properly hold it up in a sitting position until around 4 months, so it’s important to have this extra support during this time.
Newbie Love was kind enough to share some tips with us on the best way to use your wrap. They encourage the ‘TICKS’ method for keeping your baby safely secured. Check out this video for further instructions!
T. Tight against the body (so baby doesn’t slump down)
I. In view at all times (don’t cover over the baby’s head)
C. Close enough to kiss the top of baby’s head (not low down)
K. Keep chin off chest (easier when firmly supported)
S. Supported back (again, this helps by a tight wrap).
xx,
God bless you and bless your lovely daughter love you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m just curious if you’ve used any other wraps? I am torn between getting something like the cheeko or getting this newbielove one. Do you find as she gets older/bigger that you are still able to use the newbielove carrier? I am just concerned that it is for teenie newborns only & trying to gauge the longevity of the product.
