My love affair with Butter Yellow

My love affair with Butter Yellow started long ago, when I went to visit one of our ceramicists in Puglia, Southern Italy. In a neighbouring village was a ceramics museum (yes, I was in heaven. My husband not so much…) filled with eye-wateringly old splatterware and magnificent Etruscan urns whose base was always buttery, not cream, certainly not white.

This palette took me straight back to childhood Summer holidays, sandy toes, enormous sweet tomatoes, peaches from the market, and swimming until your fingers became prunes.

It’s true, butter yellow is now making a big splash across the worlds of fashion and interiors, but whether it’s here to stay or a passing trend, I don’t really mind- I shall genuinely always love it!
