This bathroom is almost a carbon copy of the primary bathroom in our old house. I just loved the colour combination of green, mustard and brown, and wasn’t done looking at it yet! I used Farrow & Ball’s Ball Green No.75 on the walls and you might also recognise my blind in mustard yellow cord by Rose Uniacke – which the talented Kath Groves made smaller to fit this bathroom window. She’s a genius. I still adore the unexpected pop of mustard, in an even more unexpected texture for a bathroom. Corduroy curtains…would you?
It’s quite a tiny room so I needed a bath that would fit. We went for the Windsor Double Ended Bath with Standard (Black) Feet from Burlington Bathrooms, it’s only 150cm in length but still looks elegant, and is the perfect size for my girls who splash around in it every night.
The bath mat is a vintage rug from Etsy and brings a bit of warmth and texture to the room. We’ve got the same Ebony Oak Aged Parquet flooring from The Natural Wood Floor Company in here with underfloor heating…in a bathroom on a cold winter morning, it’s a game changer.
I had a lot of fun finding the decorative accessories for this bathroom, and tried to keep them as old-fashioned as possible. On Ebay, I found a trio of sketches bordered with a chocolate brown mount above the bath: I hung them low and love the effect. From the old house I brought my Kew Gardens sketch from Print Club London, and finally another print of a local manor house, found at a local antique fair. I love it when an item has local significance. The wall sconces and pendant light are from Pooky and my mirror is a wonderful chinoiserie find from Love Antiques– it came as a pair, and the other hangs in Mackenzie’s dressing room. I steer clear of metallic accessories wherever possible in bathrooms, so I was thrilled to find this bamboo towel rail on Etsy – it took some trawling! On it I’ve hung some scalloped tea towels from Caitlyn Wilson…I like them so much more as hand towels! Across the bath is a wooden tray from Amber Interiors Shoppe, and on it a mix of bits and bobs – some old matches and a splatter shell dish from Carolina Irving & Daughters. Add a couple of scented candles and you’ve got a dreamy little green bathroom. One day I’ll get my own turn to have a bubble bath…
