Casual To Cool: How To Step Up Your Outfit With Statement Accessories

If ever you’re stuck for something to wear (which really does happen to us all) accessories are the fastest way to dress up a basic outfit or putting a new spin on an old favorite. From hair scarves to heels and everything in between, there are so many ways to make a statement with bright and bold accessories. I’ve written about the importance of hard-working accessories before – but before you invest – remember (my mums’!) rule… will it go with at least three looks I already own? I still stand by that advice and think of my mum, whenever I buy anything.

If ever I’m having a bad hair day (which is all the time at the moment – my baby hairs are growing back since having Honor, you lose a lot of hair after giving birth and when it grows back in, it pings straight up…ugh), so I’m wearing a lot of headbands at the moment, like this pearl one) and also wrapping printed hair scarves around my ponytail, which instantly adds a cute pop of color to a jeans and sweater day. Keep a small collection of colorful prints and patterns on hand so that you have options. A silk hair scarf with a vibrant pattern will also double up as a neckerchief, or tie it to a plain black handbag as an instant DIY bag accessory.

An accessories post would of course not be complete without mentioning the ultimate outfit accessories: the shoes and the bag. They change everything. To get you inspired and help you jazz up your next jeans and tee look, I’ve curated some of my favorite statement accessories below. Happy hour anyone?
