Fashion Week is famous for many things, but one thing in particular is street style. I’ve been coming to NYFW for 10 years now (eek!), and I love seeing the street style looks just as much as the runway shows. The shows give us a glimpse into the future, but street style is what’s happening right now. It’s so inspiring to see candid shots of my fellow bloggers, industry creatives, models and celebs strutting to and from shows and events. Everyone really brings their style A-game. When getting dressed for Fashion Week, basic is one thing you don’t want to be.
Fashion Week in September is particularly fun because the weather is starting to turn chilly without being too cold, so you can really play with layering. Layers are perfect for mastering a cool fashion week look, because they give you so many options for adding interest to your outfit. Top of my list is a tweed blazer (slightly oversized to give that androgynous vibe) with relaxed leather pants and the perfect maroon bucket bag – from Brahmin’s new Fall collection. I love how supple yet structured the leather is, and this shade of maroon is so chic, it goes with every neutral. It adds a touch of color to my look without being too flashy – perfect for a transitional Fall look.
You are guaranteed to see tons of women in sky high heels during Fashion Week, but I think it’s so fun to wear flats – it’s more unexpected! Especially now that my preggo belly is growing, I welcome any opportunity to wear flats, especially running around the city. What do you guys think of my New York street style look?
