My Ultimate Luxurious Staycation

Since Mackenzie and I got back from our recent trip to London, I have been really pining for home. There’s something about a sunny British Summer that reminds me of my childhood, so I’ve been making an effort to bring a touch of England to our home here in LA. One of my favorite British companies, The White Company, has just opened its first store in the USA and I can’t tell you how happy this makes me – they are my go-to for injecting a feel of British luxury at home. I cleared the calendar and took a ‘staycation’ last weekend, inspired by things that remind me of home. Sometimes, a staycation can be even more restorative and decadent than booking a trip away somewhere!

For me, the ultimate luxurious staycation starts with lazing in crisp, clean bed sheets, cozied up in this V-Neck Rib Jumper, while sipping on my favorite English breakfast tea. I snacked on my favorite avocado toast (I am an honorary LA girl after all), and indulged in my number one pastime of reading classic novels – I’m a particular fan of Charles Dickens’s writing. Making my bedroom into a little sanctuary for this ritual is just as important to me as getting to do those things at all. There are so many wonderful books to escape into, but in today’s busy and digital world, I find that there seems to be less and less time to do it. I studied English literature at university and there are so many novels that I never got round to finishing, so to be able to take the time to do this really does feel like a luxury to me.

The White Company’s cozy white bedding and cushions are exactly the kind of little things that make me smile. They also sell the most beautiful clothes that look and feel classically British: they’re elegant and minimalistic, with clean lines and sumptuously soft fabrics. Staples of white, gray and navy are right up my alley, with navy and white being my go-to combination. This Pintuck Front Jersey Shirt is so soft and easy to throw on, and looks perfect tucked into these navy Tencel Pleat Pants.

After my morning lounging in bed I headed to the farmers market to pick out some beautiful blooms, (not-so-discreetly) hinted to Mackenzie which I’d like, and to shop for some fresh fruit and veg. I adore farmers markets, partly because I have so many fond memories of the ones I used to visit in England. I brought along my woven leather clutch bag as a wallet, as it’s cute and easy to throw in my bag full of flowers and farmer’s market loot.

Beyond this little outing into the city, the rest of my staycation was at home so that I could totally relax. I lounged by the pool with some nibbles and a strict no-phone rule. I find it so beneficial to take even the smallest amount of time to unplug. Being able to take the time to relax and enjoy the company of the people I love in a beautiful setting is the definition of vacation to me, and it turns out that it’s really something I can achieve at home.
