The first leg of fashion month always commences with New York, and every year I’m just as excited to go. The fast paced energy of Fashion Week is so motivating, especially when you’re surrounded by so many hardworking, successful women killing it in the fashion biz. For that reason I was so excited to partner with Elizabeth Arden on creating a moodboard inspired by New York City and the founder of the brand Elizabeth herself.
It was such a fun project, as I’m always trying to stay inspired even when life gets hectic. If you’re feeling a bit of a creative block from the stress of life, just take a moment to pair things back and take a time out, so that your brain stops whirring and the creative juices flow again. To stay inspired, I try to always take a walk in a city that inspires me, immersing myself in history always renews my sense of perspective: go to a museum, gallery, watch an old movie. Talk to friends for their opinions. Make a real life moodboard (like Liz!) rather than a digital one – I’ve had an actual scrapbook for a decade and I love it! Keeps me inspired.
Elizabeth Arden is somewhat of a beauty cult icon – she was a legendary female entrepreneur, and was responsible for bringing beauty products and makeup into the mainstream of America. At the height of her career, she was one of the wealthiest women in the world! She led a fabulous lifestyle, racing horses, mingling with New York’s elite, and even marrying a Russian prince at one point. And since I’m all about female empowerment, I love the fact that she supplied the iconic red lipstick to the suffragettes, which ultimately became a part of their standard rally uniform. One of the first proponents of girl power!
As someone who is in the public sphere, I identify with multidimensional women and having many roles and personas (both public and private) – TV host, fashion blogger, wife, best friend, daughter. What I love about Elizabeth Arden and their collection of products is that it encourages women to boost their natural beauty by using simple and effective products for every age and need. Cosmetics should be not about creating a mask for yourself, but rather enhancing what you’ve already got! I always travel with their Eight Hour Cream, as I’m always in need of deep hydration and brightening after a long and tiring plane ride. Early mornings, hair and makeup, and photoshoots all do a number on my skin, so I love the fact that this cream does it all. I use it as a moisturizer for my face, a lip balm, and even a cuticle cream – when you travel a lot, products need to be multifunctional. Watch the full video of us creating our mood board below!
xx,
I love your outfit, where is it from?
I’m always so scared trying a red lip, but this looks gorgeous! Xxx
I love your necklace and was wondering if you would share where it is from. Thanks!
Hi Louise! Love the lipstick but what colour do you wear in the picture? Kind regards Fiona
Your eye make-up and the shoes are just killing me in this one!
