Why I’m Updating My Style In 2017

Since we moved into our new home, I finally have the walk-in closet of my dreams. At our last house, I took up (almost) our whole master bedroom closet plus the guest bedroom closet. I’m obsessed with my new wardrobe (Mackenzie is also happy to finally have his own closet), and I’ve been gleefully filling it as we’ve been unpacking from our move over the last couple of months. However, one thing that I’ve realized in the process, is the fact that my style has changed so much.

I think it comes from hosting so many TV shows and red carpets, but over the years, many of the clothes I acquired were very glam, girly and polished. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that! But in recent months, I’m more and more attracted to casual, muted, almost ‘undone’ looks. I think my change of heart comes from being more comfortable and confident in my life/career as I grow up. I’m all about less quantity, more quality, and pieces that work together in different combinations. There are so many ways to express style without getting impeccably done up from head to toe 24/7!

I was so honored to host an event at Cuyana last week. I absolutely adore the brand, as they really exemplify the chic easiness that I’m so attracted to these days – neutral basics made of the absolute finest materials. To head to the event, I went for a neutral, layered look with pops of black for the accessories. While I normally would’ve gone for a strappy heel and metallic clutch, I thought the casual contrast of the black added some laidback, cool vibes that go with my new look. I’m loving this newfound chicness! What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below!
