A French Provencal Valentine’s Day At Home!

As you guys might know, it’s our first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple, so we’re going all out! While we are going to be in NYC for Fashion Week on the actual day, we’re making sure to celebrate a bit early with a romantic night in at home. Now, I do love me some hearts and red roses, but this time around I wanted to set up a chic little dinner for the two of us in our new home, with a chic French Provençal theme.

As a new wifey, I’m still perfecting my cooking skills (er…and by perfecting i mean not burn everything!), so I kept the fare simple (but stylish, obvs!) with a yummy charcuterie and cheeseboard, bowls of olives, sun-dried tomatoes and warm ciabatta and red wine (which not only looks gorgeous but is perfect for sharing). I also made Mackenzie’s favorite banana bread, in the shape of hearts to add a little Valentine’s Day touch. I love how romantic this tablescape is without being too obviously “Valentine’s Day”. I’m in love with the French Riviera, so I went for a very Mediterranean palate and setting. The textures were important. Clay pots of lavender, wooden bowls of nibbles, glass tealight holders, a marble and wooden platter, vintage-inspired ceramics, an earthy linen tablecloth and rattan placemats. It ended up feeling like a countryside picnic in the south of France! I had so much fun picking everything out and styling the tablescape.

Mackenzie and I are big believers in thinking outside the box when it comes to celebrating moments like Valentine’s Day or anniversaries. It doesn’t always have to be a fancy dinner out (while that can also be fun on occasion!) – sometimes we have the best time just hanging out the two of us at home watching a silly movie, or even doing a cute picnic in the park. When you’re organizing a date night in like this, it’s great to stick to a theme and draw inspiration for your decor from there.
