Fix Your Skin with Color Correcting Makeup

One beauty trend that I’ve always been curious about – but never tried for whatever reason – is color correcting. At a photoshoot recently, my makeup artist used some redness correcting and dark circle brightening products on me, and I was fascinated! Using color correcting beauty products might seem a little daunting if you’re not a makeup pro, but it’s actually very easy – while they look a bit funny during application, all of the products blend nicely into your skin color to balance out your different skin troubles. See below for my guide on how to color correct like a pro! Plus, shop my color correcting product picks below.

Color Correcting 101:

For Redness: Use green – the green balances out redness to reduce the appearance of blemishes, sunburn, rosacea and blotchiness. If you have fairer skin, chances are you probably struggle with redness on occasion! Apply it on the cheeks, forehead and chin.

For Dullness: Use purple – this color counteracts yellowness in your skin, which can cause a dull, sallow look. This will instantly brighten your complexion! Apply it on the cheeks and forehead.

For Dark Circles: Use orange – orange instantly brightens up the appearance of dark circles and dark spots on the skin. Many brands make this color in both a lighter and dark shade, depending on your skin color. Apply under the eyes, and anywhere else you have darker pigmentation on your face.

Thanks so much for this post, I now use both green and purple corrective concealers. Took some getting used to the cream consistency but now I use them all the time for redness and spots/dark circles respectively.

    Many thanks Louise! Xx
