I was in New York last week for a good friend’s wedding, but when I arrived the temperature plummeted, so I had to rethink my look! This time of year I always adore retro ladylike glamour, (probably from having watched old films all Christmas!) so I chose girly curls and a warm color combination that always feels a little vintage – giving a nod here to 1950’s style from the movie Carol! This matching cashmere rust top and skirt set layered with this two-tone wrap coat made for a really cosy, but elegant look. The coat was my Christmas present from Mum and Dad (Zara), and the cashmere was picked up at an outlet mall (Maxmara)!
Styling tonally by layering different colors within the same color family is easy and statement-making – I even chose a pair of shades that were a similar tone. It was absolutely freezing in New York, but I couldn’t help myself from styling this look with my favorite sandals of the moment – a boot would have been too clunky for the wedding dancefloor…
