One of the things I love most about fashion is how it makes you feel – there are infinite ways to express yourself. It’s an expression of your identity that can change daily depending on your mood, which makes your style somewhat of a living thing. The tuxedo has always been a statement of power, but also elegance and seduction. Think back to women like Marlene Dietrich, Bianca Jagger, Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie. The masculine staple has been appropriated for a feminine vibe throughout the decades, and is honestly my favorite party option for the holidays and New Year’s Eye…you guys have to try it!
I had the pleasure of wearing this gorgeous tux to a dinner recently. It got me thinking about the androgynous tailoring that graces the catwalks year after year. There’s something so thrilling about putting on a tuxedo – even though it’s masculine, it makes me feel so empowered and sexy. Karen Millen’s atelier collection this season is perfection, chalk full of elegant suits, jackets and accessories that make you feel and look sharp. I amped up the glam factor with this emerald trench – it’s such a fresh take on a season classic. To balance out the tailored feel of the suit and trench I added some fluffy accessories, to balance out the clean lines.
This outfit makes for a sexy, grown up New Years Eve look, or even an elegant black tie wedding or work event outfit. Karen Millen’s atelier collection is limited and is sure to sell fast. Their 5th Ave, Santa Monica, Regent Street and Knightsbridge locations have the atelier range, as do Bloomingdales – click here to find a location near you and nail the tailored look for the holidays.
