A weekend getaway should be relaxing, evoke a sense of wanderlust and most importantly, be easy . And so should the packing experience: you need lightweight, non-crease, versatile pieces that can be layered, dressed up, and dressed down. Thankfully, two trends have re-emerged that make daily dressing (and travel style) a breeze. The 90’s are back, so channel your inner Kelly Kapowski (she was my absolute girl crush on Saved by the Bell!) and slip into a stretchy jersey dress – a knit or ribbed style adds an extra dose comfort, and is more flattering on your figure. I recommend stocking up on a few styles, as they are completely transitional season to season with a trench or oversized cardigan in the fall, and can be worn casually (with sneakers) or for a night out with open toe heels. Satisfy the second fashion trend, minimalism, by sticking to neutral tones. Mottled grey, black or white work best for a proper 90’s vibe).
As you pack, put together a list of essential items that fit in a carry on and can be worn different ways. The perfect white tank, strappy black heels, a black silk camisole, fitted jeans, and a non-crease dress or romper aren’t just style investment pieces, they’re easy to pack essentials. Don’t forget to pack your beauty faves too – this is an area i won’t skimp on, because your skin still needs all its products. Just invest in travel sized bottles and pots for easy transportation. And don’t forget your makeup: with this particular look – red lip or cat eye would totally transform and modernize it from day to dinner.
