We’re well into summer and I want to try something new on my nails! I’ve always been a fan of short, bright, square nails – but recently saw some beautiful beachy, boho girls on vacation in Spain, with these long stiletto shape nails in warm neutral tones. I had to give it a try! I kept mine medium length and not crazy-pointy, but I’m loving them – it’s fun to switch things up. The subtle color won’t clash with your seasonal palette and the long shape makes your fingers extra long and elegant.
If you’re tired of a classic mani and feeling bold, try this trend and keep these tips in mind:
The Right Shade: Nude nails can be tricky. You don’t want it to be so subtle that it goes unnoticed, but too dark can lose the classic appeal. When searching for the proper shade of barely there, it’s crucial that you try the shade on a nail first, to see it next to your skin tone. Look for a shade one to two shades lighter or darker than your skin, for an intentional pop and contrast.
Finish Strong: A glossy finish looks polished and classic, but today’s nude options come in a variety of attention grabbing finishes like satin, frosted, shimmer and glitter – just test them out before getting all ten nails painted. While matte is an option, it can look a bit lifeless in nude (especially on longer nails) and take away from the appeal. Experiment with layers of different nudes to create your own custom color and finish.
Get In Shape: Pointed, stiletto nails are a huge trend in the beauty world – long, elegant, and a bit on the naughty side, they have an amazing ability of adding edge to any manicure. While some go for the severe point, I prefer a more functional almond shape. Not too pointy, not too round – the almond shape gives you all the length and look without the risk.
