Moisturizing my body for smooth, hydrated skin is a huge part of my everyday beauty routine, and here’s a little beauty secret: I like to use hand cream everywhere because it’s so much thicker and more nourishing than regular moisturizers. Blame it on the drying effects of airplane travel or using spray tan (which dries the skin), but my skin needs more moisture than ever, and it’s made me change my habits to incorporate one more step – hand creams. And ps. nothing shows your age more than your hands, so why not be a bit more affectionate to this area of skin! Toss a long-lasting formula in your purse or travel bag as a daily reminder to moisturize (I’ve found that the better the fragrance, the more often I’d apply). Pro tip: your feet probably aren’t getting enough love either (especially in the warmer months) so focus on this area too, particularly around the heel and cuticles. Like most products, the more often you apply the better, so make it a habit and even lather it on thick before bed, so it can really soak in overnight.
JASONS Softening Cocoa Butter Hand And Body Lotion: Gentle ingredients due to an organic formula, I absolutely love this inexpensive, drug-store cream when I’m on the go and in need of a quick fix. Cocoa butter is extremely moisturizing, long-lasting, and leaves the faint scent of yummy chocolate on your skin.
L’Occitane Hand Cream: This super creamy balm is the perfect size for a travel bag and with 20% Shea butter, this formula is especially great for severely dehydrated airplane skin. I especially love this brand because of its chic packaging and collection of scents (they have everything from almond to lime!).
TokyoMilk Dark Hand Cream: Moisturizing is always less of a chore when you enjoy the scent and this hand cream’s strong, spicy fragrance is unreal! This is a great alternative to perfume with the added benefit of moisturized skin.
Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Therapy: This baby tube comes everywhere with me, i’ll reapply in the car, on the plane, anywhere. It’s an age-old British brand proven to repair damaged skin, this formula also contains hydrating ceramides and vitamin E to condition nails and cuticles.
Kai Hand Cream: With refreshing aloe vera and apple extract, this non sticky formula has an incredible cooling effect on tired, dry skin. My spray tanner also recommended it to use right after a tan, the ingredients are gentle enough that they won’t streak or mess with your new bronze glow.
