I was absolutely obsessed with the gorg makeup look the incredible Rachel Wood created for me on the first day of NYFW. Funnily enough, my inspiration was a Kardashian… I pulled a pic of Kendall Jenner from a recent night out she had in Paris, and asked Rachel to recreate the look. Kendall’s eyes looked stunning, so bold but different to the norm – warm copper reflecting around the whole socket. It’s total disco chic!
And by the way, it’s easier than it looks. You can recreate the look yourself in 5 minutes at home. Read on for Rachel’s super-simple tips:Step 1: Be sure to leave the rest of your makeup until after the eye is done. Otherwise, you risk ruining your perfect foundation or concealer, withcopper glitter.
Pre-curl your lashes with a lash curler. (Tip: I hold mine under warm water for a few seconds. When the curler heats up, it helps curl the lash more).Step 2: Prep the lid with a shadow primer (if you don’t have any, use foundation). Pat a tiny amount all over the lid with your finger or a flat brush.
Step 3: Using a small, stiff eyeshadow brush, apply a coppery orange shimmer shadow all over the lid up into the socket area, softly blending out so the edges appear smoky. Apply a soft line of this shadow under the eye (as close to the lash line as possible) to create a metallic liner effect.
Step 4: Apply small, grained-sized copper glitter on top using a flat stiff brush. Be careful – a small amount goes a long way.
Step 5: Finish with a set of false lashes (I like to use Ardell’s 117 strip lashes), followed by two layers of voluminous black mascara. I always coat my lower lashes in waterproof mascara, so the black doesn’t run onto the skin underneath my eye.
