I’ve never been the girl who considers black her go-to closet color: I love brights, I love prints, I love colors and fun on my clothes and accessories. But this winter, I’ve definitely been going through a darker phase. Although black is unequivocally a beloved color in the fashion world, wearing it head to toe is totally new to me. Don’t tell my wardrobe, but I have to admit I’m loving it!
The way I’ve adopted black into my own wardrobe while staying true to my lighter spirited, mix and match style has been to blend textures. With this look, worn last week at NYFW, I mixed pebbled and patent leather, and solid and polka dot printed fabrics. The look was definitely as chic as allover black, but a little more me. A few modern Audrey Hepburn-inspired accents like oversize sunnies and pearl earrings, and I was set, my love of minimal black styling cemented in my style repertoire.
